Meet The Nine Bride — a living garden sculpture dressed in air plants (Tillandsia) and finished with roses… because every bride deserves them 🌸

Handcrafted at Botanical at Nine, she stands in our garden in Boskloof, Humansdorp, welcoming visitors from across the Kouga region and holidaymakers exploring our beautiful area.

She's not for sale… but she is here to inspire 🌱

At Botanical at Nine, we believe plants are more than something you grow — they are something you create with.

🌿 The Story Behind The Nine Bride

The Nine Bride was designed as a statement piece that blends nature, art, and emotion into one unforgettable garden feature.

Using Tillandsia (air plants), which require no soil, allowed for a flowing, sculptural design that brings movement and life to the structure. Soft roses were added to complete her look — because every bride deserves them.

She is more than just a display… she is a conversation, a memory, and an experience.

🔧 How She Was Built

The Nine Bride's structure was crafted with care and ingenuity:

• An iron lady bodice forms the top half — creating her elegant bridal silhouette
• A 3mm round rod was bent into hoops to shape the skirt into a classic bridal form
• Chicken wire was stretched over the frame to hold and support the air plants
• Iron shoes were crafted as a beautiful finishing detail, grounding her presence
• A decorative umbrella completes her look — a bride who arrived in style

The result? A strong, sculptural frame that holds its shape while allowing the Tillandsia to breathe and thrive.

🪴 What You Need

If you feel inspired to create your own botanical sculpture, here's what you'll need:

• A strong wire frame (dress shape or structure)
• Tillandsia (air plants)
• Artificial roses
• Soft wire or plant ties
• A stable base
• Optional: iron shoes for a striking finish
• Optional: a decorative umbrella — because every bride deserves a little drama ☀️
• Creativity and patience 🌿

✨ Basic Steps

  1. Build or source your wire structure
  2. Secure the base so it stands firmly
  3. Attach air plants gently using soft ties
  4. Layer plants to create fullness and movement
  5. Add roses and decorative elements
  6. Step back and shape your final design

There is no perfect way — each creation becomes unique.

🌱 Care Guide

To keep your air plant sculpture healthy:

• Mist 2–3 times per week
